Chateau de Villette Condecourt - France

Chateau de Villette Condecourt - France

DESCRIPTION:

One of the most significant historical chateaux in France, Château de Villette is known as “Le Petit Versailles”. It was built for the Comte d’Aufflay, the French Ambassador of Louis XIV in Venice, with the same elegance and inspiration as in Versailles but about the size of a family house.

A beautiful example of the 17th Century architecture with the contemporary comfort of a complete renovation led by Mr Jacques Garcia.

Château de Villette is only 35mn away from Paris, Champs Elysées and 30mn from Le Bourget Airport.

The Chateau was designed by architect Francois Mansart in 1668 for Jean Dyele, the Comte d'Aufflay, Louis XIV's ambassador to Venice, and finished around 1696 by his nephew Jules Hardouin-Mansart.

The gardens, designed by Le Notre, spread out behind the chateau in the central axis from the spectacular fountain and cascade resembles that of Chateau Marly. There are two rectangular-shaped lakes on each side of the main garden.

The chateau and its magnificent 185-acre grounds provide privacy, serenity and activities including fishing, hunting, horseback riding, tennis, weddings, cooking classes, corporate retreats, concerts, movie filming and other events.

In 1786 Nicolas Marquis de Condorcet married Sophie de Grouchy in the Chapel of the Château. Marquis de Lafayette was their witness. His wife, reckoned one of the most beautiful women of the day, became an accomplished salon hostess in Villette as Madame de Condorcet.

Château de Villette includes 13 bedrooms : 7 luxurious ensuite bedrooms in the main Château and 6 bedrooms with bathroom in the aisle.

Both simple and sumptuous with on the ground floor, great octagonal Grand Salon, an elegant Dining Room with a carved stone buffet, wine cooling fountains and blue dessus-de-portes by Boucher, a Music Salon with magnificent boiseries, a stately Library, a stone Foyer.

The Grand Staircase leads to the first floor with its luxurious ensuite bedrooms.
